A little help, whenever you need it
Baby Tracker keeps bottle feeds, nappies and growth measurements together on your iPhone, so there is a little less to remember. If something is not working as expected, the guidance below is a good place to start.

For an app issue, include the version and build shown at the bottom of Settings, your iPhone model, iOS version and a brief description of what happened. Tell us the steps that led to the issue and any error message. Remove personal details from screenshots. Never send your Apple password, verification codes, backup password or a full baby-record export.
App support cannot assess your baby’s health or provide medical advice. Speak with a qualified healthcare professional about health concerns, and use your local urgent-care or emergency service when appropriate.
Which version are you using?
The version and build are at the bottom of Settings. Version 1.0.1 keeps tracking records on this iPhone. Version 2.0 adds optional Shared care and remote bottle Live Activities. The new-feature guidance below applies when those controls are present in your installed version; this page does not announce App Store approval or availability.
Where are my records?
Everyday tracking works locally without a Baby Tracker account. If you do not start or join Shared care, a second phone does not automatically receive the records. Shared care uses each caregiver’s own Apple Account to synchronize the selected baby through iCloud. Other local babies, saved reports and original imported files are not shared.
Keep the app installed while investigating a problem. The working record store is excluded from device backup, and deleting the app can remove the only local copy. A saved backup can restore records only up to the point when that backup was created.
Set up Shared care in version 2.0
- Update Baby Tracker on both iPhones and sign in to iCloud on each using your own Apple Account.
- On the owner’s iPhone, select the baby, then open Settings → Shared care.
- Review the profile and complete bottle, nappy and growth history that will be shared. Notes and future supported changes are included; other babies, reports and original imported files are excluded.
- Choose Start sharing, then Invite or manage caregiver and use Apple’s invitation sheet.
- Open the private invitation on the other iPhone and follow the app’s prompts. The invited phone needs an empty installation: if it already has local records, save an encrypted backup and review Settings → Reset this app before joining. Joining does not merge an existing local collection into the shared baby. Both caregivers can view and edit the shared baby once connected.
Only invite someone you want to have access to these records. Invitations do not require sharing your Apple password. Keep invitation links private.
When the other phone has not updated
Open Settings → Shared care on both phones and choose Refresh. Check the pending-change message and the time of the last shared copy received. “Saved on this iPhone” does not confirm delivery to the other phone. Check internet access, iCloud sign-in and available iCloud storage.
If changes need review, choose Review both versions and make a deliberate choice. Keep the app installed and preserve a backup while investigating. Signing out of iCloud or changing Apple Accounts can pause shared access to protect records from the wrong account. Follow the in-app recovery choices; do not reset the app just to make an error disappear.
Pause sharing on this iPhone lets you continue locally when offered. New local entries wait until you resume and the app verifies access. Pausing does not remove another caregiver’s access or delete the iCloud room.
Remote bottle Live Activities in version 2.0
After Shared care is connected, Settings → Timers & notifications → Show on the Lock Screen controls Live Activities. It is on by default in the app; check that Live Activities are also allowed in iPhone Settings. Remote updates use a limited push service and Apple’s delivery system. See the privacy policy for the device identifiers and timer data involved.
Open the owner’s app at least once a day while using remote activities. Remote authorization expires if the owner has not refreshed it for 24 hours. Opening the app refreshes access when iCloud can verify the share. Check the remote-activity status in Shared care if a timer has not appeared. Failed updates and endings can be retried, but a remote start lost during a network interruption may need the receiving app to be opened before the timer appears.
Internet access, iOS background limits, Focus and device settings can delay or suppress updates. A dismissed activity or a force-quit app may need you to open the app again. Refresh the shared record in the app when you need to confirm what was saved. Live Activities are a convenient view of recorded care, not a guaranteed alert or monitoring system.
For nappy alerts, open Settings → Shared care → Nappy notifications. They are off by default and require notification permission. Alerts show a generic pee or poo message; open the app for the record. You can switch them off separately.
Save a backup
- Open Settings → Backup & export.
- Choose Save an encrypted backup.
- Enter and repeat a password of at least 12 characters.
- Create the file and use the file picker to save it outside the app.
- Keep the password separately, and make new backups as you add records.
Shared care is not an independent historical backup: shared edits and deletions can reach both iPhones. A copy stored only on the same iPhone does not protect against losing that phone. A chosen storage provider may have its own sync, access and retention settings. The app cannot recover a missing backup or forgotten password.
CSV and complete JSON exports are separate readable copies. Anyone with access to them can read the contents. Complete JSON exports from the app can also be imported, but they are not encrypted backups.
Import or move records to another iPhone
Choose Import from backup on the welcome screen or in Settings → Backup & export. Select a .mayabackup file or a complete JSON export from the app. Enter the password for an encrypted file, choose an existing or new baby profile for each imported profile, review the additions, then confirm.
Existing records, newer edits and deletions are kept. Matching records are skipped, and importing the same data again does not create another copy. An extra active bottle may be skipped to preserve the bottle already running. Review the import summary. CSV is an export format, not an import format.
If a file will not open, check that you selected the right file and password. The app cannot reconstruct an incomplete or missing file. A validation failure leaves current records unchanged. Keep the original file while investigating.
If Original imported files appears under Backup & export, you can save those originals again. They may preserve information that the tracker cannot display, so keep them private too.
Log or correct a bottle
Record the bottle’s milk type, amount and time. When finishing a feed, enter the milk left in the bottle so the app can calculate the amount drunk. Check the saved entry in History; tap anywhere on its row to correct a mistake. The normal bottle-entry flow supports expressed breast milk and formula; it does not time direct breastfeeding or track solid-food meals. Previously imported mixed-bottle records may still appear in your history.
Charts and totals describe the entries you saved. Missing records are not evidence that your baby missed a feed or nappy change. Switching baby profiles changes the records you are viewing.
Timers and reminders
Open Settings → Timers & notifications to control Live Activities and optional bottle reminders. The app asks for notification permission when you enable reminders. You can continue tracking if you decline.
Turn on Show time since last feed to see elapsed time since the selected baby’s last feed finished. When a bottle is active, both timers appear together in one Live Activity. Finishing a feed resets the elapsed time; discarding a bottle keeps the previous finished feed. iOS limits each activity to eight hours, so reopen the app to refresh it. Swiping it away keeps it hidden until a new bottle or feed, or until you turn the setting on again. This does not recommend when your baby should feed.
If reminders are not appearing, check the iPhone’s notification and Focus settings. They can silence or delay alerts. Live Activities also have their own iPhone setting. The timer inside the app still works when alerts are off.
Baby names are never included in these alerts. Milk type and amount stay hidden unless you enable Show milk type and amount. These details may then appear wherever your Apple settings allow Live Activities or notification previews.
Timers describe the app’s bottle window; they cannot assess milk safety or decide when a baby should feed. Follow the preparation and storage guidance for your milk.
Growth charts and sources
Weight and lying-down length charts show only your saved measurements over time. You can add or edit measurements, choose your display units, and open Measurement history to review earlier entries. These charts do not predict growth or diagnose a condition.
Open Settings → Sources & guidance for general health-service reading, its scope and limitations. Discuss unexpected measurements with your care team.
Leave sharing or delete records
Deleting an individual entry hides it from your history. A marked copy remains in the local store and exports/backups so an older import does not bring it back.
In version 1.0.1, use Settings → Delete records from this iPhone. In version 2.0, open Settings → Reset this app and read the local reset and iCloud room choices. A local reset removes the app’s local record store, including profiles, entries, reports and original imported files. It does not by itself remove the owner’s iCloud room. Save an encrypted backup first if you need a recovery copy.
In Settings → Shared care, the owner can Invite or manage caregiver or Stop sharing; another caregiver can Leave shared baby. Refresh and resolve pending changes before changing access. If disconnection fails, follow the error and retry online. These actions end future shared access but cannot erase copies already downloaded or exported by another person. Stopping a share leaves the owner’s private room available for management.
After changing participants outside the app, open the owner’s app and refresh Shared care. The remote-activity service learns about the change through the owner’s app; a removed caregiver may still receive minimal bottle timer updates until that check succeeds or the existing authorization expires, at most 24 hours after its last owner renewal. Already delivered notifications or Lock Screen content cannot be withdrawn remotely and may remain visible under iOS controls.
Use Shared care → Find or manage rooms to reconnect to an existing room or delete a room you own. Deleting an owned iCloud room is different from resetting one phone. Independently saved backups and exports must be deleted separately. There is no separate Baby Tracker account to delete. Appearance and other device preferences are separate from baby records.
Purchases and refunds
The App Store handles any download payment. For an App Store purchase or refund issue, use Apple’s purchase support. The normal release has no in-app report credits or subscription flow. The current store price and availability are shown by Apple.
